A common question we hear at The Porch Light is, “What can I do the help?”
Well, today we have an answer that you can act on immediately. You can stand with us in agreement that silence is NOT golden when it comes to the wicked crime of human trafficking.
On, Thursday April 13 The Porch Light is hosting the 2017 Florida Anti-Human Trafficking Advocacy Day in Tallahassee, Fla. We are excited to be part of an event that will shine a light on the horrid injustices of modern day slavery, feature the courageous voices of survivors and encourage people and communities to step up to help end trafficking.
The day will include a Unity March from First Baptist Church of Tallahassee to the steps of the Historic Capitol, where advocates will convene for a powerful rally and press conference.
The morning will kick off with a prayer breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Tallahassee and Dr. Joel C. Hunter, Senior Pastor at Northland Church in Longwood, Fla., will be the keynote speaker. Tickets for the breakfast are $15 and must be purchased in advance by clicking here.
From 9-9:45 a.m. there will be a panel of survivors at the church who will share their stories of struggle, survival and victory. At this free event these women will share how you can help prevent trafficking in your communities and offer healing and restoration to victims.
Some of the legislative hosts who are joining forces on April 13 to help break the chains of trafficking are:
• Representative Jennifer Sullivan, District 31
• Representative Frank White, District 2
• Representative Ross Spano, District 59
• Representative Mike Miller, District 47
• Senator Dennis Baxley, District 12
If you can’t make it to this historic event, you can still do your part.
Share this post with your friends and family, share our posts for leading up to the event and contact your local legislators and influencers and encourage them to be part of this trailblazing event!
