A Mother’s Peace

The lives that are forever changed because of The Porch Light are not limited to the girls who live in our safe home.

Recently one of the young women in our care got to see her mother and brother for the first time in months.

It not only was therapeutic for the young woman, it was the opportunity for a mother to find much-needed peace.

“You are a different child,” the mother exclaimed as she noted that there was a new glow that was evident.

The last time she had seen her daughter she had reached out to law enforcement in desperation because she didn’t know what to do.

Through the Department of Children and Families (DCF) a connection was made with The Porch Light and a young woman who was once trapped in the deceit and destruction of the sex trade is finding restoration.

The mother and daughter were able to spend valuable time together and healing began to take place.

The mother’s gratitude for the ministry can be summed up in a single sentence: “I am able to sleep at night now because I know you are safe.”

We are appreciative of the opportunity we have to provide a safe haven for young women who have endured unimaginable trauma and nurture them back to a more normal life while sharing the abundant life that comes through a relationship with Christ.
