Shine a Light Day of Prayer

Sunday, September 25

Join with your family, church and community to lift up The Porch Light in prayer. Prayer is powerful and we are called to pray for the young girls who are being rescued, those in bondage, and the perpetrators who are holding them captive.

Gather your family, Bible study group, church, and others to pray with us in the following ways:

  1. Victims: Pray for those who are currently in the bondage of sex trafficking, that they might be released from their captivity and find new life in Christ. Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”
  2. Porch Light Residents: Pray for the young ladies who have been rescued from trafficking and are currently receiving love and care at the Porch Light Safe Home. Ask for God to strengthen them and transform their lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:17 “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
  3. Porch Light Staff: Pray for the directors, coaches and mentors that work on the front lines each day to bring rescue and restoration to victims. Lift them up and pray that God would grant them strength, purpose and wisdom as they carry out His work. Isaiah 33:2 “LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.”
  4. Law Enforcement and Lawmakers: Pray for our law enforcement officers as they rescue children from perpetrators. Pray for wisdom and protection in every circumstance. Also, lift up our lawmakers as they seek to bring harsher penalties to perpetrators and greater opportunities to the oppressed. Isaiah 1:17 “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”
  5. Perpetrators: Pray for those who prey on children and enslave them. Ask for God’s conviction upon their lives, that they might turn from evil to God’s saving grace. Acts 3:19 “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”

Shine a Light Day of Action
